REFERRALS
Individual sessions: You do not need a referral from a doctor to book a private treatment session with us. However, if your General Practitioner (GP). Psychiatrist or child’s paediatrician provides a Mental Health Care Plan, and considers that you have a diagnosable mental disorder you will be eligible for Medicare rebates.
The term “mental disorder” is used to describe a range of diagnoses, including Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Drug and Alcohol Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Eating Disorders, Sexual Disorders and a number of childhood emotional and behavioural disorders.
Group sessions: Referrals to a group can be made directly by the individual, a family member, by an allied health professional, or by services such as the Department of Community Services, Department of Corrective Services and NSW Probation and Parole Service. The individual’s consent will be needed to make a referral via a third party.
FEES & REBATES
Non-medicare rebate sessions are $240. For rebatable sessions, these incur a fee of $200 for a General Psychologist or $240 for a Clinical Psychologist.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, Medicare will reimburse you up to $129.55 for clinical psychologists and $88.25 for general psychologists per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Group session rates vary depending on upon your individual financial status and type of treatment.
If you have private health insurance, a proportion of the fees may be redeemable from your private health insurance, depending on your health plan. Please contact your health care provider to find out about redeemable rates.
Bulk billing Pensioners and those on unemployment benefits are eligible to be bulk billed.
Our rates are considerably lower than The Australian Psychological Society recommended fee for psychological services, which is currently $246 per standard individual session. (http://www.psychology.org.au/Assets/Files/Recommended-Fee-Flyer.pdf)
