Referrals

Individual Sessions

You do not need a referral from a doctor to book a private treatment session with us. However, if your General Practitioner (GP), psychiatrist or child’s paediatrician provides a Mental Health Care Plan, and considers that you have a diagnosable mental disorder, you will be eligible for Medicare rebates. The term “mental disorder” is used to describe a range of diagnoses, including Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Drug and Alcohol Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Eating Disorders, Sexual Disorders and a number of childhood emotional and behavioural disorders.

Group Sessions

Referrals to a group can be made directly by the individual, a family member, by an allied health professional, or by services such as the Department of Community Services, Department of Corrective Services and NSW Probation and Parole Service. The individual’s consent will be needed to make a referral via a third party.

Appointments

Appointments are only available within business hours, from Monday to Friday (after-hours sessions are subject to availability). Individual treatment sessions run for approximately 50 minutes, and group sessions are approximately 1-3 hours in duration, depending on the type of group you are allocated to.

Please contact our administrative staff to make an appointment, either via email or phone

Fees & Rebates

Non-Medicare

If you are not eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan, treatment sessions will be charged from $240 per session. To find out more about the eligibility requirements, please click here.

Medicare

If you have received a Mental Health Care Plan from your General Practitioner (GP), Medicare will reimburse you up to $92.90 for General Psychologists, and $136.35 for Clinical Psychologists per full session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Group session rates vary depending on upon your individual financial status, and the type of treatment you are engaging in.

Our rates are considerably lower than The Australian Psychological Society recommended fee for psychological services, which is currently $300 per standard individual session.

When To Pay

For all face-to-face session, payment for treatment sessions is required at the time of the appointment. Clients being seen via Telehealth will be sent an invoice after their session is complete. Payment for reports must be made before the report is released.

We accept cash, cheque, EFTPOS, EFT transfer and credit card (surcharges apply from 1 July 2023 for debit and credit card payments). Medicare claims are processed using the Medicare HICAPS system. When you pay for your session, your Medicare card will be swiped through the EFTPOS terminal, your claim details will be verified, and your rebate will be paid directly into your nominated account.

Any appointment cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will incur a Failure To Attend (FTA) fee. Medicare will not reimburse for missed appointments.
