Biography

Dr Lennings is a respected academic having been employed as a senior Lecturer in the University of Sydney and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) teaching psychology, and in the Faculty of Law at QUT teaching forensic psychology. He is a clinical and forensic psychologist with thirty years of clinical experience, having worked in a variety of government and non-government services as well as private practice.

He has provided reports for courts at all levels and Tribunals in New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Western Australia and Victoria and has provided reports to the Family courts in Wales (UK) and New Zealand. Chris conducts assessments for private solicitors, Legal aid, Aboriginal Legal Aid, Children’s Legal Service, the Department of Community Services, the Department of Juvenile justice and has also undertaken assessments for the Family Court.

His chief areas of research interest include forensic psychology, the treatment and assessment of substance abuse, violent and sexually violent young offenders, youth suicide, child protection, and the interface of psychology and the law. He has presented his work nationally and internationally in conferences and workshops and has more than 100 publications in related area. Chris has been an editor of two journals and is an editorial consultant for Australian and International Journals in clinical and forensic psychology.

He is a member and has held executive roles of relevant professional bodies including Clinical and Forensic Colleges of the Australian Psychological Society, the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and the Law, and the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Treatment of Sex Abuse.
